Powder coating line

In line with Thos Storey's aim of both continual improvement and carbon reduction, a project is currently underway to upgrade the powder coating facilities by replacing the old paint booths with new, improved technology, spray booths.

The old booths, whilst fit for purpose, were only capable of recycling powder coating in one of the two booths and the extraction ran off a large 26kw motor thereby requiring large amounts of electricity to power it.

The new booths are fully ATEC accredited and allow for 100% of the powder used to be recycled; this will significantly reduce the need for raw materials so positively benefitting the environment.

In addition, the two new booths are extracted via the use of one 7.5kw motor which represents a 4-fold reduction in the electricity required.

The upgraded powder coating facilities will allow for quick change of colours so significantly increasing the capability and flexibility of the finishing service.

The new booths will be commissioned and ready for use in early February 2014.
