Czech Farmers Catch on to Spread-a-Bale

Spread-a-Bale is aiming to bring the benefits of mechanical spreading of bedding straw to farmers in the Czech Republic following a series of successful working demonstrations in the country by its new agent, Cime.

Following those demonstrations, several farmers have expressed interest in buying the machine, and the company is confident of securing the first sales very soon.

Cime is a well-established agricultural machinery dealership, and are the exclusive importer for Merlo telehandlers in the country, covering most of the Czech Republic, and also has divisions that handle construction equipment and tyres.

The company’s headquarters is at Pelhrimov, in the South of the country, which covers the Highlands and South Bohemia, with three other branches covering North Bohemia, North Moravia and South Moravia. All branches offer sales, spares and service facilities.

Tom Robinson, Sales Manager for Spread-a-Bale, says the deal with Cime – set up by Josef Veverka, Thos Storey’s agent in the country – will help establish the machine in the country:

“As well as staging these working demonstrations, we were able to stage training sessions for Cime staff, which will enable them to promote and demonstrate the machine with great confidence in the future”.

Josef Veverka says the first demonstrations have proved very convincing, even for farmers who were originally sceptical about it:

“By the end of the demonstration they all appreciated its excellent performance, especially the fact that it creates much less dust than any of the chopper blowers that many of them currently use.

“They may have started the session wondering whether the machine would be of use to them, but in the end they were discussing the best way to use the machine in their own cow sheds”.
